Once the work permit is approved, permission can be sought from the Immigration Department for family members to move to the BVI. The work permit holder will need to present this request in form of letter ensuring to attach relevant supporting documents:
- marriage certificate
- birth certificate and passport copies for each dependent
- evidence of financial support.
Children that are over 5 years will need their entry into the territory approved by the Ministry of Education and Culture; this must be done prior to placement in school, private or public.
In order for the request to be processed by Immigration Department, the permit holder must enter the Territory and regularise their status. Once approved, the work permit holder can expect to receive a letter from the Chief Immigration Officer with particular instructions to be executed.
The sponsor (work permit holder) will need to complete and pay for a bond. The cost of the bond tend to vary as it depends on the place of origin of the dependent since it must cover the costs of return airfare. A stamp is then placed into the passport of each dependent once the bond is paid for. This regularises the dependents' status within the Territory.
