Why Social Security?
All BVI employees between the ages of 15 and 65 are required to register for social security. Upon successful registration, a social security card is issued.
Social Security is a statutory deduction. Contributions to social security are done through deduction from your salary. These contributions are paid on your behalf.
Private employees contribute 8.5% of insurable earnings (This is a joint contribution by the employer of 4.5% and the employee of 4%).
