Role Summary
The Boat Captain is responsible for the safe and efficient operation, maintenance, and preparation of the estate’s boat fleet and watersports equipment. The role provides professional boat transfers, airport pickups, guest excursions, and watersports support while delivering a high level of personalized guest service.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate powerboats safely for guest transfers, excursions, and airport pickups.
- Perform daily cleaning, fueling, safety checks, and preventative maintenance of vessels.
- Assist with boat preparation, docking, lines, first mate duties, and guest hosting.
- Support and instruct guests in a range of watersports, including e-foils, kayaking, paddleboarding, snorkeling, wakeboarding, and waterskiing.
- Conduct regular safety and equipment checks and ensure all vessels and watersports equipment meet company SOPs.
- Maintain boats, equipment, workshops, storage areas, tools, and stockrooms in a clean and organized condition.
- Respond to maintenance issues and assist with fleet maintenance and repair projects.
- Follow all company Health & Safety, environmental, PPE, and operational procedures.
- Participate in the department rota, including weekends and evenings as required.
- Attend briefings and required training.
- Support the Estate Manager and Activities Manager with projects and other duties as required.
- Deliver exceptional service and contribute to a first-class experience for homeowners and guests.
Key Skills & Qualifications
- Valid boat captain/master certification or relevant maritime qualification.
- Proven experience operating and maintaining powerboats.
- Strong knowledge of boating safety and marine operations.
- Watersports experience and relevant certifications would be an advantage.
- Excellent communication and guest-service skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong attention to detail, reliability, and a proactive approach.
- Good knowledge of Health & Safety procedures.
- Flexible to work weekends, evenings, and on-call shifts when required.
- First Aid/CPR certification would be an advantage.
